It’s not too late to plan a fun night watching the big game! We decided at the last minute to throw a party with just a few couples. I’m happy to share what I’m doing.
I decided to make some traditional appetizers – mini hot dogs, veggie tray with dip, chips and salsa, chips and dip – you know, the usuals. What are your go-to appetizers?
I wanted to go with a Kansas City theme for the main course so I’m doing BBQ ribs and chicken drumsticks in the slow cooker both made with a Kansas City style BBQ sauce I picked up at the grocery store.
I tested a KC Chili recipe and was not a fan so I’m going with my traditional chili recipe from my mom. I’m from MN, so it’s still a midwest recipe, that counts right? I’ve got a lot of chili fixins on hand including sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, diced red onion, rice and Fritos. I think I’ve covered more than just the midwest with those fixins.
For dessert I’m going with the San Francisco theme and serving Ghirardelli brownies cut into football shapes. (Tastefully Simple fans use your Truffle Fudge Brownies!) I’ll serve them with vanilla ice cream and Ghirardelli sauces. My guests are rounding out the dessert course with fruit and other sweets.
For the people not so into the game I picked up a TV Commercial Bingo game from Party City. Then I hit Michaels for some gift bags and green tissue paper. I also picked up several prizes. I plan on doing one Bingo game per quarter, depending on how quickly we get a winner. My prizes include fun snacks, Starbucks gift cards and some adult prizes including mini vodka and cranberry juice bottles.
What do you love about the Super Bowl? The game, the food, the commercials, the halftime show? Let me know in the comments. I hope you have a fun Sunday night!
